The Training for Action is an afternoon event that will give individuals -- those who are newly activated to those who are more seasoned activists -- some tools we need to make real, tangible differences together on the urgent issues. This is a community-generated, volunteer-organized event, and we are seeking community help to make this a powerful and worthwhile event that is of benefit to us all. We'll have four learning areas: 1. Building Winning Strategies 2. Developing Tactical Skills 3. Effective Solidarity Organizing 4. Learning to Talk about the Issues. We'll open the event with burritos and registration and close the event with a fiesta with food and local music during which you can meet with participating groups to learn how to get more involved in specific areas of interest. Location is Albuquerque's South Valley Academy. Childcare and Spanish-English translation will be provided. With the form posted below (and due by March 30), we are looking for individuals and organizations who will volunteer to offer 50-minute activist training workshops within the four learning areas. If you are part of an organization, we also would like to bring your organization on as a co-sponsor of this event (free of charge). To join the Training for Action event team (which so far is made up of organizers of the Women's March in ABQ, the Rio Grande chapter of the Sierra Club, and seasoned social justice organizers), please fill out this form:
