Dear Fellow New Mexican,
THIS WEEK IN BRIEF:
- Please consider getting involved in one or both of the following campaigns:
Michelle Lujan Grisham's campaign for Governor of New Mexico
Campaign to fill Grisham's congressional seat in the 1st District
THIS WEEK IN DETAIL:
GET INVOLVED IN OUR UPCOMING LOCAL ELECTIONS
We know it's early but we are very excited about the prospect of New Mexico having a Democratic governor again once Susana Martinez's term ends next year. Michelle Lujan Grisham, New Mexico's Democratic representative from the 1st District has announced that she will run for the seat, which will leave her seat open. It is critical that we help another Democrat get elected to this seat. You can start to familiarize yourself with possible candidates here.
And if you would like to donate or get involved in Grisham's campaign for governor, you can do so here.
In addition, Republican Representative Stevan Pearce from the 2nd District is considering a run for governor as well. He famously believes that "the wife is to voluntarily submit" to her husband and he has voted with Donald Trump 97% of the time since Trump was inaugurated. I know that most of us take for granted that New Mexico's 2nd District will always be Republican but last week we were contacted by a local Huddle Up group who are hosting a very promising candidate named Tony Martinez in Santa Fe next Wednesday. He hopes to unseat Pearce and flip our 2nd district from red to blue in 2017. If you are interested in helping with this effort and hearing from Tony Martinez, here are event details:
Santa Fe’s Huddle Up group invites you to hear about New Mexico’s Congressional District 2, and what we can all do to flip that district from red to blue.
Wednesday, June 14th, 6:30pm – 8:30pm
The Center for Progress and Justice – 1420 Cerrillos Road.
Featured speaker, Tony Martinez.
Thank you for all you are doing!
