ACTION EMAIL #24

Dear Fellow New Mexican,

THIS WEEK IN BRIEF

In the wake of the tragic Aztec New Mexico High School Shooting, tell Steve Pearce what you think about his support for the tax bill and the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act making it easier to carry concealed weapons across state lines. To read more about this terrible piece of legislation Click Here

THIS WEEK IN DETAIL

Steve Pearce wants to run for Governor of New Mexico.  He is also one of the top ten most funded lawmakers by the National Rifle Association.  He cares more about the gun industry and their campaign contributions than he does about sensible gun laws that protect New Mexicans.

Here is a partial list of his votes that put firearms in the hands of bad people and helped to shield the gun industry from any responsibility:

  • Voted YES on prohibiting product misuse lawsuits on gun manufacturers. (Oct 2005)

  • Voted YES on prohibiting suing gunmakers & sellers for gun misuse. (Apr 2003)

  • Rated A by the NRA, indicating a pro-gun rights voting record. (Dec 2003)

  • Ban gun registration & trigger lock law in Washington DC. (Mar 2007)

This insanity has to stop!

CALL TO ACTION

SAMPLE SCRIPT

“Hi I am calling to let Congressman Pearce know that New Mexicans will be watching very closely to see how he votes on the tax bill and on any gun control legislation as he wraps up his final term in congress and prepares to run for Governor.  I am a strong supporter of gun control and believe the tax bill will further devastate working families.  Representative Pearce already has an abysmal record on gun control and he clearly cares more about the money he receives from the NRA than about New Mexicans affected by gun violence.”

Remember folks, while Steve Pearce is busy stocking his twitter feed with thoughts and prayers for victims of gun violence in this state and everywhere, he is being paid handsomely to resist any attempt for reasonable, responsible gun legislation.

Thank you for all you are doing!

In solidarity,
